April 2007 - Issue # 21Issue #21 The UEL, as one of the many interested stakeholders non-profit public interest groups, attended a “stakeholders” meeting. We were encouraged that at last there would be a public process for Virginia Key. Unfortunately, with the previous City of Miami manager, there was a closed door policy. Various public developments, including Virginia Key and Bicentennial Park were being designed by consultants without public input. Successful cities thrive when there is a shared trust between the city officials and the citizens.
