I thank UEL for putting together this forum. It was helpful to me as I was undecided and not familiar with many of the candidates. I am extremely appreciative of all the candidates. It takes a lot of courage to put yourself under the political/public microscope.
While I am still undecided, I have three front runners now in no particular order: Lynda Bell, Albert Harum Alvarez, and Pam Gray. While I appreciate the civic spirit of Marmorstein and Culler, they should just drop out because they haven't any clue about County government (even though Culler apparently used to work for the County) and do not have a good understanding of ongoing issues in our community and therefore would not be able to maneuver effectively. Taddeo and Flinn were a little better in terms of community knowledge, but I was not too impressed with them and they seem to be in the race more for their egos.

Tallahassee, FL (LifeNews.com) — A Florida pro-life group is calling on Governor Charlie Crist to pick Judge Alan Lawson for a vacancy that exists on the Florida Supreme Court. Crist has been given a list of names of possible nominees and Florida Right to Life says it believes Lawson is the best candidate.
Soon, Crist will appoint the final replacement for the open seats of the Florida Supreme Court to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of the central Florida seat previously held by Justice Charles Wells.
Wells is stepping down due to mandatory age retirement of the Florida Constituion.
On Monday, a panel that chooses finalists for the high court named for attorneys for the short list for the latest opening.
They include two circuit judges in Sanford: James E.C. Perry and Debra Steinberg Nelson. Alan Lawson, currently on the Fifth District Court of Appeal in Daytona Beach, and Orlando lawyer Dan Gerber are also on the list. Seven attorneys applied for the opening.
Florida Right to Life told LifeNews.com on Thursday that it is backing Lawson.
"This final appointment is absoutely critical to issues that Florida values voters and social conservatives are concerned about pro-life issues," Lynda Bell, the group's president, said.
"We need judges who are not activists, but who respect and recognize their limited restrained role as an academic interpreter of law. We need judges who will strictly uphold the Constitution, and not legislate from the bench," Bell added.
"Therefore, we need to let Governor Crist know that we support Judge Alan Lawson for the current vacancy on the Florida Supreme Court," Bell concluded.
LifeNews.com has also learned that attorney Dan Gerber is strongly pro-life as well and has impressive credentials when it comes to opposing abortion.
